George Stroumboulopoulos, a long-time TV personality in Canada, is CNN’s newest talk-show host.
“Stroumboulopoulos”, his hour-long interview show premiered on Sunday evening on the U.S. cable news channel. As of next week and for the rest of the summer, it will air on Friday nights at 11 p.m.
His first guests were rapper Wiz Khalifa and two fellow Canadians, comic Martin Short and actor Keanu Reeves.
According to CNN, the show will “explore the worlds of art, pop culture, politics, tech news and sports, through the eyes and the words of their most interesting figures.”
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Strombo, as he is also known, expressed some surprise at the fact that CNN offered him the job.
“Guys like me aren’t on TV too often. Not on news channels. But I was on a news channel in Canada. I have my earrings and I wear what I wear and they’ve been really cool about it.”
Stroumboulopoulos is currently the host of CBC’s “George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight,” which broadcasts across Canada.
This is the second time Stroumboulopoulos hosts a show in the United States. In 2006, he hosted ABC’s The One: Making A Music Star.
