On this edition of Politics Today, RCI’s Gilda Salomone focused on a petition by a citizens advocacy group on the fate of the Senate.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) wants Prime Minister Stephen Harper and all Parliamentarians to hold a referendum on abolishing the Senate at the same time as the next federal elections, in 2015.

Gilda spoke with Gregory Thomas, CTF’s federal director, about the referendum and about the federation’s new referendum mascot, a giant inflatable balloon resembling former Conservative Senator Mike Duffy.
Duffy, who now sits as an independent senator, has been under intense scrutiny for improperly claimed living expenses.
