World-famous band Arcade Fire started to market their newest album more than a month ago, when letters spelling out the word “Reflektor” were seen on the sides of Montreal buildings. So when music fans heard that an unknown band called The Reflektors would be playing a show at a small salsa club in the city, they quickly realized who that band was.
James Lynch, 26, for example, asked his boss to have the day off, in order to see one of his favorite music acts.
“It puts an enormous stress on you as a fan when you find out in the morning there’s a concert on your way to work and you know there are only 100 places,” he said.
Still, Lynch waited in line to get one of the 100 tickets available.
“It’s a group that you have to see live. There’s a lot of energy,” he said.
Former attire or costumes were mandatory. Fans dressed as shiny aluminum warriors, bank-robbers, cats and lions for a chance to see the Grammy award winning Montreal band.
Reflektor, the group’s fourth album, is scheduled to be released Oct. 29. An eight-minute single and video is already available on the web.
